Using the Case Page

How to use case page features like saving, marking complete, notes, text-to-speech, pomodoro timer, and more.

DICOM Viewer

Cases with medical images include an interactive DICOM viewer with tools for adjusting window/level, zooming, measuring, and more. See Using the DICOM Viewer for full details.

In the App

The mobile app lays a case out in tabs: Images, Write-Up, and Video Review when the case has a video. The DICOM viewer runs inside the Images tab, and the case text is on the Write-Up tab.

  • Text size. A text-size button sits in the header of the Write-Up tab, with Small, Default, Large, Larger, and Largest.
  • Previous / Next case. On a phone these buttons appear on the Write-Up and Video Review tabs, not on Images. On a tablet they appear on every tab. A case your plan doesn't include shows a padlock and opens an upgrade prompt instead of moving to it.
  • Saving a case, marking it complete, and leaving feedback all work in the app.

The rest of this article describes the case page on the website, including the footer controls, the settings panel, and the Read buttons. In the app, your notes live under your profile picture in My Notes, and lo-fi music is under Resources.

Case Content Sections

Each case includes expandable sections for Findings, Diagnosis, Discussion, References, and Pearls. Click a section header to expand or collapse it. Use the Expand All / Collapse All button in the top controls to toggle all sections at once.

Saving Cases

Click the heart icon in the case header to save a case for later. Click it again to unsave. Your saved cases are accessible from your Saved page, the saved-items icon in the header, or via your dashboard.

Marking Cases Complete

By default, cases are automatically marked complete when you open them. If you prefer to mark cases complete manually, you can turn off auto-complete in the settings panel (gear icon in the footer) or in Account Settings under the Accessibility tab.

When auto-complete is off, click the Mark Complete button to record that you've finished a case. The button turns green to show it's been completed. Click again to mark it incomplete.

Text-to-Speech

Click the Read button on any section (Findings, Diagnosis, Discussion) to have it read aloud. Use Read All to listen to all sections in sequence.

While listening, you can pause and resume playback. Adjust your preferred voice and playback speed (0.5xโ€“2x) in the settings panel (gear icon in the footer).

Notes

Click the Notebook button in the footer to open the note-taking panel. You can:

  • Create and edit notes linked to the current case
  • View all your notes across cases
  • Search and filter notes
  • Use speech-to-text dictation by clicking the microphone button (or press Alt+T)

Notes auto-save as you type and persist across sessions.

Pomodoro Timer

The Pomodoro Timer in the footer helps you study in focused intervals. The default cycle is 25 minutes of work followed by a 5-minute break, with a longer 15-minute break after 4 cycles.

Click the timer icon in the footer to open it. You can start, pause, and reset the timer, and customize all timing settings. Your preferences are saved automatically.

The Pomodoro timer is a website feature and is not in the mobile app.

Lo-fi Music Player

Click the music icon in the footer to open the lo-fi music player. The curated Lofi beats playlist plays in-app while you study โ€” you'll need to be signed in to play tracks.

The player has volume control, shuffle, and auto-play next track. Your playback state persists as you navigate between pages. See Using the Lofi Music Player for full details.

Font Size

Open the settings panel (gear icon in the footer) and use the Text Size dropdown to choose Small, Medium, or Large.

Feedback

If you notice an issue with a case or want to leave feedback, click the Leave Feedback button at the bottom of the case content.

Voxel AI

On cases you have access to, click Ask Voxel AI to open an AI assistant that has context about the current case. Voxel is available on free cases, on any case included in your active subscription, and on cases your program administrator has granted you access to. See AI Tools & Usage Limits for usage details.
