The CaseStacks mobile app is currently in beta testing and is not yet publicly available.
The app keeps case text on your device. Imaging works differently, so it is worth knowing which is which before you rely on it offline.
What Works Offline
Cases you've opened recently keep their write-up, diagnosis, and case details such as modality, age, and sex. Recently viewed lessons and Call Simulator cases are kept too.
A banner appears at the top of the screen when you lose your connection.
What Needs a Connection
Imaging is streamed and always needs a connection. DICOM images are not stored on your device, so a case you opened earlier shows its write-up offline but not its images.
So do:
- Marking cases complete
- Creating or editing notes
- Saving and unsaving items
- Call Simulator sessions
- CME credits and certificates
- Voxel AI and the other AI tools
There is no download-for-offline feature. Caching is automatic for what you've already opened, and older content is replaced over time.
Imaging on Cellular Data
Studies can be large, so the app asks before loading case imaging over cellular data. You'll see a prompt with a Load anyway option. To change this, go to Profile, then Settings, then Data usage, and use Load imaging on cellular data.
Syncing With the Website
Your progress, notes, saved items, completed cases, badges, and CME credits are stored on your account, not on one device. Anything you do in either place shows up in the other.
Most screens refresh when you pull down on them, which clears anything that looks out of date.
Your subscription is the exception. If you buy or change a plan on the website, sign out of the app and sign back in to pick it up.
