The Call Simulator lets you practice blind case interpretation under conditions similar to being on call. It is ungraded โ you're practicing, not being scored. For graded evaluation, use Assessments instead, which run on the website.
Setting Up a Session
From the Call Simulator page:
- Choose which courses/topics to include. Cases will be pulled from your selection. The course you pick already scopes the pool by body region and modality.
- Optionally narrow the case pool further under Case Filter:
- All / Incomplete / Complete / My Saved Cases โ limit to cases you haven't seen, cases you've finished, or only your saved cases.
- Filter by AI Grade โ when filtering on completed cases, target a specific grade range to drill into areas you scored lower.
- Age Group โ limit to Adults or Peds. Combine with the Neurological course for a peds neuro session, or the Ultrasound course for peds ultrasound.
- Optionally set a limit type:
- Unlimited โ run until you end the session
- Time โ cap the total session time
- Cases โ cap the number of cases
- Optionally enable distractions โ simulated Voxel AI "colleague" messages that interrupt you mid-read. Pick quiet, moderate, or busy to match the intensity of a call shift.
- Click Start Session.
During a Session
Each case shows:
- Patient demographics and clinical indication (no diagnosis)
- Images in the DICOM viewer
- A report field where you type or dictate your findings
Write a preliminary report as you would on call. Type directly, or click the microphone (or press Alt+T) to dictate. Reports auto-save as you work. Move between cases with the Previous / Next buttons.
If you enabled a time limit, a countdown timer appears in the footer. The session ends automatically when time runs out or all cases are done.
In the App
The Call Simulator is in the mobile app on the Simulator tab. Set up a session there the same way, then start it.
In a session, the images fill the screen and you write your report in the Preliminary Report bar under the image. Keyboard shortcuts are a website feature.
After a Session
The summary shows cases reviewed, reports written, and session duration. Full session history is on the activity page.
The Call Simulator intentionally doesn't grade your reports or compare them to correct diagnoses โ that's what Assessments are for. Use the call sim to build speed and systematic reading habits; use Assessments when you want AI feedback on your reports.
