The Call Simulator lets you practice blind case interpretation under conditions similar to being on call. Each report you save is graded by AI, and you can revise and regrade it. For a one-shot graded evaluation, use Assessments instead, which run on the website.
Setting Up a Session
From the Call Simulator page:
- Choose which courses/topics to include. Cases will be pulled from your selection. The course you pick already scopes the pool by body region and modality.
- Optionally narrow the case pool further under Case Filter:
- All / Incomplete / Complete / My Saved Cases โ limit to cases you haven't seen, cases you've finished, or only your saved cases.
- My Blind Spots โ cases you missed, then new cases from the topics you score lowest in. Can't-miss diagnoses come first. Unlocks after a few graded reports.
- Filter by AI Grade โ when filtering on completed cases, target a specific grade range to drill into areas you scored lower.
- Age Group โ limit to Adults or Peds. Combine with Neuro CT or Neuro MRI for a peds neuro session, or with Ultrasound for peds ultrasound.
- Optionally set a limit type:
- Unlimited โ run until you end the session
- Time โ cap the total session time
- Cases โ cap the number of cases
- Optionally enable distractions โ simulated Voxel AI "colleague" messages that interrupt you mid-read. Pick quiet, moderate, or busy to match the intensity of a call shift.
- Click Start Simulation.
During a Session
Each case shows:
- Patient demographics and clinical indication (no diagnosis)
- Images in the DICOM viewer
- A report field where you type or dictate your findings
Write a preliminary report as you would on call. Type directly, or click the microphone (or press Alt+T) to dictate. Click Save Preliminary Report to save it. Move between cases with the Previous / Next buttons.
When you click Save Preliminary Report, the AI grades your report against the expert report. Open the Diagnosis section to see your score, feedback and the key findings you caught or missed. You can revise your report and save it again for a new grade.
If you enabled a time limit, a countdown timer appears in the footer. The session ends automatically when time runs out or all cases are done.
In the App
The Call Simulator is in the mobile app on the Simulator tab. Pick your topics, a case filter (All, Incomplete, Completed, or Needs practice) and an optional time or case limit, then start. Distractions, the saved-cases and age-group filters, and AI Grade ranges are on the website.
In a session, the images fill the screen and you write your report in the Preliminary Report bar under the image. Keyboard shortcuts are a website feature.
After a Session
The summary shows cases reviewed, reports written, session duration, and each report with its AI grade and feedback. Full session history is on the activity page.
Use the call sim to build speed and systematic reading habits, with feedback on every report. Use Assessments when you want a one-attempt score that locks the case, closer to an exam.
