Findings
- Hyperattenuation in the left transverse sinus, straight sinus, vein of Galen, and in veins coursing along the left cerebellar hemisphere
- Scattered linear areas of hyperattenuation within sulci in the bilateral cerebral and cerebellar hemispheres
- Small acute parenchymal hematoma in the high right frontal lobe
- Parenchymal hypoattenuation in the left temporo-occipital region
- Right frontal sinusitis
Diagnosis
Venous sinus thrombosis with associated hemorrhage and parenchymal edema
Sample Report
Hyperattenuation in the left transverse sinus, straight sinus, vein of Galen, and in a vein coursing along the left cerebellar hemisphere concerning for venous thrombosis. Small acute parenchymal hemorrhage in the high right frontal lobe raises concern for superior sagittal sinus and/or cortical vein thrombosis as well. Recommend brain MRI with and without contrast for further evaluation.
Scattered linear areas of hyperattenuation within sulci in the bilateral cerebral and cerebellar hemispheres, which may represent small volume subarachnoid hemorrhage and/or additional small thrombosed veins.
No hydrocephalus.
Hypoattenuation in the left temporo-occipital region consistent with edema/developing venous infarct.
Right frontal sinusitis.
