Demographics: 83 years old, Female
Indication: Left sided weakness

Findings

  • Focal hyperattenuation associated with an M2 branch of the right MCA
  • No definite areas of loss of gray-white differentiation
  • Patchy subcortical and periventricular white matter hypoattenuation
  • Calcified intracranial atherosclerosis

Diagnosis

Acute right MCA territory infarct (dense vessel sign)

Sample Report

Focal hyperattenuation associated with an M2 branch of the right MCA concerning for age-indeterminate thrombus. Consider CTA for further evaluation. No definite CT findings of infarct; however, MRI is more sensitive for acute infarct.

Sequelae of chronic microvascular ischemic disease. Calcified intracranial atherosclerosis.
