Findings
- Hyperattenuation within the superior and posterior aspects of the superior sagittal sinus and in the straight sinus and bilateral internal cerebral veins
- Additional focus of hyperattenuation near the left tentorial leaflet
- Area of hypoattenuation in the right thalamus and genu of the right internal capsule
Diagnosis
Dural and deep venous sinus thrombosis
Sample Report
Hyperattenuation within the superior and posterior aspects of the superior sagittal sinus and along the straight sinus and bilateral internal cerebral veins concerning for dural and deep venous sinus thrombosis. Additional focus of hyperattenuation along the left tentorial leaflet likely represents thrombus in a tentorial vein. Recommend brain MRI with and without contrast for further evaluation.
Area of hypoattenuation in the right thalamus and genu of the right internal capsule is concerning for edema and possible developing venous infarct. This finding can also be further assessed with MRI.
No acute hemorrhage, mass effect, or hydrocephalus.
