Findings

  • Pneumopericardium
  • Multiple left posterior rib fractures with a small left pneumothorax
  • Lucency outlining the right hemidiaphragm
  • No focal airspace opacification or edema
  • Asymmetric hazy opacification of the left hemithorax
  • Normal size of the cardiopericardial silhouette

Diagnosis

Pneumopericardium

Sample Report

Pneumopericardium.

Multiple left posterior rib fractures with a small left pneumothorax. No mediastinal shift.

Query lucency outlining the right hemidiaphragm, which could represent pneumothorax layering anteriorly on this supine radiograph. Consider CT for further assessment.

Asymmetric hazy opacification of the left hemithorax, which may represent a layering pleural effusion.

No focal airspace opacification.
