Findings

CT

MRI

  • Heterogeneously enhancing pineal region mass measuring 4 x 3.4 x 3 cm
  • Predominantly T1 hypointense and T2 hyperintense internal signal
  • Corresponding predominantly peripheral susceptibility artifact likely relating to calcification and hemorrhage
  • Associated downward mass effect on the tectum as well as on the third ventricle and right greater than left thalami with adjacent parenchymal edema in the right thalamus
  • Associated obstructive hydrocephalus at the level of the cerebral aqueduct
