Instant Read Aloud, Sharper Dictation & Your Past Sessions

Version: v2.7
โฌ†๏ธ Improvement

Read Aloud now starts the moment you press play across the case library, dictation is better at radiology vocabulary and punctuates itself, and you can speak your questions to Voxel instead of typing them. Your reports and AI feedback from every past Call Simulator and Assessment session are now yours to revisit โ€” including sessions you finished before this update. Voxel Chat, the Differential Assistant and the Impression Generator all run on a newer model, and program directors can break resident performance down by week or by a date range of their choosing.

Call Simulator

  • Your Reports & AI Feedback from Past Sessions โ€” Open any prior session โ€” including ones you finished before this update โ€” to see the report you wrote for each case, your rating, and the AI score and feedback it received.
  • A Timer on Each Case โ€” The stats line now shows how long you've been on the current case, resetting with each one. Dismiss it with the ร—; the clock icon brings it back.

Assessments

  • Prior Sessions, Not Just Prior Cases โ€” The activity page now lists every assessment session you've finished; click one for its full report. The case-by-case view is still under All Cases.
  • Assessments Are Reachable for All-Site Subscribers โ€” Subscribe individually rather than through a program and Assessments now appears in the header and on your progress page. It was always included; there was just no way in.

Case Pages

  • Read Aloud Starts Instantly on More Cases โ€” Read Aloud audio is now prepared ahead of time across the case library, so pressing play on Findings, Diagnosis or Discussion begins immediately instead of pausing while the audio is generated. English cases for now; other languages still generate on first play.
  • Next and Previous at the Bottom of the Writeup โ€” Expand a case writeup and Next and Previous now also appear at the end, so you can move on without scrolling back up. Case pages and the Call Simulator.
  • A Taller Image Viewer โ€” The viewer now fills the space above the footer bar instead of leaving a blank strip, so images display a little larger. Applies to case pages and the Call Simulator.
  • Annotated Images Open Larger โ€” Opening an annotated image or illustration now scales it to fit your window instead of leaving it small inside an oversized frame, and it no longer opens at the wrong size while it's still loading.
  • Images on Migrated Cases Display Again โ€” Some cases carried over from the old site pointed at an address that no longer serves images, so the picture came up blank. They now use the copy stored here โ€” including the preview shown when a case is shared.
  • "Session Expired" on Normal Peds Cases โ€” A few normal pediatric cases pointed at the wrong stored copy of their images, so the viewer turned them away and reported an expired session even though you were signed in the whole time. Those cases open normally again.
  • Links Between Cases Open the Right Case โ€” On cases carried over from the old site, links to related discussions dropped you on the section listing. They now open the case itself, in the language you're reading in.

Courses & References

  • Reference Titles Are No Longer Cut Off โ€” A reference whose title contained a "<" โ€” for example "SUV <2.5 benign" โ€” was chopped off at that character and displayed as "SUV".
  • Non-English References Stop Merging Together โ€” Distinct references with Chinese, Japanese, Korean or accented titles were collapsed into one. They now list separately.
  • Term Highlighting Works in Every Language โ€” The hover-for-definition terms on case pages now match non-English terms instead of quietly skipping them.
  • Lessons in the Order the Author Set โ€” Neuro Fellowship listed lessons alphabetically, which put "Lesson 10" ahead of "Lesson 2". They now follow the intended order.
  • Progress and Certificates Agree โ€” Progress bars, lesson counts and certificate eligibility now come from one calculation instead of three. Translated sites reported 0 of 0 cases no matter what you'd finished.

Notes

  • Notes Link Back to Their Case โ€” Notes written on a case now link back to it from your Saved page, in both the notes tab and search results.
  • Case Notes Open Your Existing Note โ€” Opening notes on a case you've already written about now loads your saved note instead of a blank editor, so saving adds to it rather than creating a duplicate. Choose New Note and the blank editor stays blank.

AI Tools

  • Dictate Your Questions to Voxel โ€” A microphone button lets you speak your question instead of typing it. Click to record (up to 60 seconds), click again to stop, and the transcript drops into the message box. Alt+T (Option+T on Mac) toggles it.
  • More Accurate Dictation โ€” Dictation is better at radiology vocabulary. Sequence names, anatomy and eponyms that used to come through as everyday words โ€” "FLAIR" transcribed as "flare" โ€” now come out right. This applies everywhere you dictate: Voxel, preliminary reports and notes.
  • Dictation Punctuates Itself โ€” Dictated text now breaks into proper sentences instead of running on with commas. Spoken commands like "period" and "new paragraph" still work the same way.
  • A Roomier Voxel Message Box โ€” The chat input is now two lines tall, so longer questions are easier to see while you write them.
  • Upgraded AI Model โ€” Voxel Chat, the Differential Assistant and the Impression Generator all run on a newer model: better answers, faster, and closer adherence to your custom impression style.
  • Higher Impression Generator Limit for PRO โ€” PRO users now get 400 AI-generated impressions per month, up from 200.
  • Sources You Can Actually Open โ€” References under a Voxel answer now link to the source they cite, with each chapter credited separately. Textbook links previously went nowhere.
  • Fewer False Alarms on the Privacy Check โ€” Ordinary radiology wording like "6 month follow up ct" is no longer flagged, and the check now tells you what it found.

Subscriptions & Access

  • Your Payment Applies Straight Away โ€” PRO access now takes effect everywhere the moment you pay, including the AI tools.
  • Program Access Runs to the End of the Final Day โ€” Program access windows now cover the whole of their last day.
  • See Your Next Term Before It Starts โ€” A term you've paid for that begins when your current access ends now shows in Account Settings as a Scheduled upcoming plan, with its start date. It used to stay invisible until the day it took effect.

Accounts & Sign-In

  • Set a Password When You Sign In With Google or Apple โ€” Account Settings now has a Set password option, so Google- and Apple-only accounts have a backup way in.
  • Password Changes No Longer Report a False Error โ€” Changing your password no longer shows a failure when it worked.
  • A Code in Your Password Reset Email โ€” Hospital mail systems often rewrite or strip links, so reset emails now include a short code you can type in instead.
  • You're Told When a Sign-In Method Is Added โ€” Linking Google or Apple to your account now sends you an email.
  • Changing Your Password Signs Out Other Devices โ€” Every password change now ends your sessions elsewhere.
  • Verification Emails Actually Send โ€” New accounts created here were being marked verified without ever being sent the email.
  • A Usable Message If You're Blocked โ€” The security block page now explains what happened, and its Contact support link works from a blocked address.

Progress & Stats

  • Practice Cases Count Toward Course Progress โ€” Cases in a course's Practice Cases folder are now included in its totals.
  • More Reliable Study Time Tracking โ€” Study sessions close reliably, and averages from very few cases are held back until there's enough data.

Program Admin

  • Weekly and Date-Range Completion Views โ€” Resident performance now breaks down by week and custom date range, not just by month, and time-per-case is recording again.

Around the App

  • Activity Page Fixes โ€” The page no longer hides activity it just loaded, filter labels render correctly, and switching every filter off no longer leaves it stuck empty. The Quiz filter is hidden where quizzes aren't offered.
  • Anatomy Modules Show Up in Search โ€” Searching "brain anatomy" or "temporal bone" now turns up the modules themselves, not just the cases and lessons mentioning them, and an Anatomy type filter narrows to only modules.
  • Anatomy Modules Load Faster โ€” Anatomy image stacks are around 80% smaller to download at the same resolution, so slices appear sooner and use far less data on a slow connection.
  • Cleaner Search Result Snippets โ€” Excerpts for some imported Call Prep material showed raw "\n" and "\t" text. They now read as plain sentences.
  • More of the App in Your Language โ€” Around 130 interface strings that still showed in English are now translated across all eight non-English languages.
  • Fixed Case Index Pages in Japanese, Chinese and Korean โ€” These pages were failing to load and are back.
  • New Resources Hub โ€” A Resources page collecting the free tools and reference material in one place.
  • More Music to Study To โ€” The lofi playlist in the footer player has more than doubled, from 13 tracks to 27, so it repeats far less over a long reading session.
  • Classical Radio While You Study โ€” WCPE, The Classical Station, is now in the footer player as a live 24-hour classical stream, carried with the station's permission and free for everyone.
