- Irregularity of the bilateral distal radial and ulnar metaphyses
- Osteopenia with bone-in-bone appearance of the metacarpals
Diagnosis
Rickets

Irregularity of the bilateral distal radial and ulnar metaphyses consistent with rickets.
Osteopenia.
No acute fracture or malalignment.
Discussion
- Rickets results from hypophosphatemia and may result from prematurity, poor nutrition, malabsorption syndromes, or vitamin D resistance among other causes
- Common imaging findings:
- Metaphyseal irregularity/cupping
- Growth plate widening
- Tubular bone bowing/fractures
- Osteopenia
- Rachitic rosary in the chest (expansion of anterior rib ends at the costochondral junctions)
- Widening of skull sutures
