Findings
- Markedly dilated venous structure in the expected location of the vein of Galen and straight sinus with distension of the torcula and transverse sinuses and multiple dilated bilateral feeding deep veins including dilated veins in both lateral ventricles
- Likely multiple feeding arteries from the left greater than right PCAs, though feeding arterial supply is difficult to confidently determine on this noncontrast study
- Areas of linear T1 hyperintensity in the interhemispheric fissure and both lateral ventricles
- No evidence of acute infarct, hemorrhage, or hydrocephalus
Diagnosis
Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation
Sample Report
Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation with evidence of prior embolization in the area of pericallosal ACA branches and the bilateral lateral ventricles. There are likely multiple feeding arteries from the left greater than right PCAs, though feeding arterial supply is difficult to confidently determine on this noncontrast study. Recommend catheter angiography for further evaluation.
No evidence of acute infarct, hemorrhage, or hydrocephalus.
