Indication: Headache

Findings

  • Trace amount of susceptibility artifact in the occipital horns of both lateral ventricles with a linear ventral margin
  • Thin susceptibility artifact along the ventral margin of the medulla
  • No evidence of acute infarct or mass effect
  • Patchy subcortical and periventricular white matter T2/FLAIR hyperintensities
  • Generalized cerebral volume loss with dilation of the ventricular system favored to represent ex vacuo enlargement
  • Extensive mucosal thickening of the right frontal sinus and of anterior right ethmoid air cells
  • Small left mastoid effusion

Diagnosis

Intraventricular hemorrhage

Sample Report

Trace intraventricular hemorrhage with blood layering in the occipital horns of both lateral ventricles. No definite evidence of hydrocephalus.

Hemosiderin staining along the ventral margin of the medulla, suggesting sequela of prior hemorrhage.

Background of chronic small vessel disease and generalized cerebral volume loss with ex vacuo enlargement of the ventricular system.

Right frontal and anterior right ethmoid sinusitis.
