Findings
- Incompletely imaged peripherally enhancing ventral epidural collection with intermixed small locules of gas at the level of C1
- Lytic changes in the anterior aspect of the C2 vertebral body with adjacent nasopharyngeal soft tissue edema and enhancement
Diagnosis
Cervical osteomyelitis and epidural abscess
Sample Report
No acute intracranial abnormality.
Incompletely imaged peripherally enhancing ventral epidural collection with intermixed small locules of gas at the level of C1 which is concerning for epidural abscess. Recommend cervical spine MRI with and without contrast for further evaluation.
Lytic changes in the anterior aspect of the C2 vertebral body raise concern for associated osteomyelitis.
Adjacent nasopharyngeal soft tissue edema and enhancement, which can also be further evaluated by MRI.
