Demographics: 41 years old, Female
Indication: Post-cardiac arrest

Findings

  • Diffuse cerebral and cerebellar loss of gray-white differentiation with reversal of gray-white differentiation of the deep gray nuclei
  • Global effacement of the ventricular system, basal cisterns, and cerebral sulci with crowding of the foramen magnum

Diagnosis

Severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)

Sample Report

Diffuse cerebral and cerebellar loss of gray-white differentiation with reversal of gray-white differentiation of the deep gray nuclei. Findings are consistent with severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).

Associated diffuse cerebral edema with downward transtentorial and cerebellar tonsillar herniation.

No acute hemorrhage or hydrocephalus.
