Findings
- Extensive edema involving the supraglottic larynx including edematous appearance of the epiglottis and aryepiglottic folds
- Peripherally enhancing fluid collection in the posterior wall of the hypopharynx may represent a small abscess
- Narrowing of the supraglottic airway, which remains patent
Diagnosis
Epiglottitis
Sample Report
Marked edema of the supraglottic larynx, notably with edematous epiglottis and aryepiglottic folds, consistent with acute epiglottitis and laryngitis. Recommend ENT consultation.
The supraglottic airway is narrowed, but remains patent.
More discrete peripherally enhancing collection measuring 10 x 5 mm along the posterior wall of the hypopharynx is concerning for a small abscess.
