Findings
- Peripherally-enhancing collection in the superomedial left orbit measuring up to 7 mm in thickness along the lamina papyracea which broadly contacts and displaces the superior oblique and medial rectus muscles
- Mild left proptosis with inferolateral displacement of the globe
- Left conjunctival hyperenhancement
- Left periorbital soft tissue swelling and edema
- Mucosal thickening of the paranasal sinuses, most notably of bilateral ethmoid air cells
Diagnosis
Subperiosteal orbital abscess with postseptal cellulitis
Sample Report
Extraconal subperiosteal abscess in the superomedial left orbit measuring up to 7 mm in thickness likely secondary to adjacent ethmoid sinusitis. Associated pre- and postseptal left orbital cellulitis as well as mild left proptosis.
