Findings
- Peripherally enhancing collection along the left medial canthus with overlying periorbital skin thickening and a subcentimeter ill-defined collection anterior to the left globe
- Dilated proximal left nasolacrimal duct which tapers to normal caliber at the distal third
- No retrobulbar collection or stranding. No proptosis
Diagnosis
Dacryocystitis
Sample Report
Peripherally enhancing fluid collection along the left medial canthus measuring 2 x 1.5 x 1.8 cm with surrounding inflammatory changes, consistent with dacryocystitis. Ophthalmology consultation is recommended.
A small, ill-defined collection extending along the anterior surface of the left globe could be reactive, although this could represent an additional site of infection/developing abscess. Recommend correlation with exam.
Left preseptal cellulitis without retrobulbar stranding or proptosis to suggest postseptal orbital cellulitis.
