Findings
- Posterior knee dislocation
- Several tiny ossific fragments project anterior to the femoral condyles
- Irregularity of the articular surface of the inferior pole of the patella
- High position of the patella
- Large joint effusion
- Soft tissue swelling about the knee
Diagnosis
Posterior knee dislocation
Sample Report
Posterior knee dislocation. Consider CTA if there is concern for associated vascular injury.
Several tiny ossific fragments project anterior to the femoral condyles, which may represent acute chip/avulsion fractures. These could also be further assessed with CT.
Irregularity of the articular surface of the inferior pole of the patella concerning for nondisplaced fracture.
High position of the patella raises concern for patellar tendon rupture.
Large joint effusion.
Soft tissue swelling about the knee without radiopaque foreign body.
