Demographics: 69 years old, Female
Indication: Abdominal pain and distension

Findings

  • Gaseous distension of the descending and sigmoid colon, measuring up to 6.2 cm in diameter
  • Large stool burden in the cecum and ascending colon
  • Small bowel loops appear decompressed
  • No evidence of free subdiaphragmatic air
  • Right upper quadrant surgical clips
  • Mild dependent atelectasis in the visualized lung bases

Diagnosis

Obstructing colon cancer

Sample Report

Findings concerning for large bowel obstruction at the level of the distal sigmoid colon. Recommend CT for further assessment.

Large proximal colonic stool burden.

Small bowel loops appear nondistended.

No evidence of pneumoperitoneum.
