Demographics: 75 years old, Male
Indication: Acute on chronic abdominal pain

Findings

  • Marked gaseous distension of the colon, particularly involving the transverse colon
  • Multiple calcific densities overlying the left greater than right kidneys
  • Nonspecific calcification projects over the left aspect of the anatomic pelvis
  • Gastric suction catheter with tip overlying the gastric fundus
  • Gastrojejunostomy tube with retention balloon overlying the gastric body and tube tip overlying the left upper quadrant, likely in the proximal jejunum

Diagnosis

Ogilvie syndrome

Sample Report

Marked gaseous distension of the colon, particularly involving the transverse colon, which could represent a partial distal colonic obstruction or pseudo-obstruction. Consider CT for further evaluation.

Multiple calcific densities overlying the left greater than right kidneys, which raise concern for renal calculi.
