Findings

  • Sequential chest radiographs show increasing size of an irregular right apical hydropneumothorax in this patient status post right upper lobectomy
  • Rounded opacity projecting over the right hilum
  • Left lung is clear
  • Normal size and configuration of the cardiopericardial silhouette

Diagnosis

Bronchopleural fistula

Sample Report

Sequential chest radiographs show increasing size of an irregular right apical pneumothorax in this patient status post right upper lobectomy. This finding raises concern for a bronchopleural fistula, which could be further evaluated with CT.

No mediastinal shift.

Small right pleural effusion.

Rounded opacity projecting over the right hilum concerning for a postprocedural hematoma versus mass. This could also be further evaluated with CT.
