Findings

Chest radiograph

  • Streaky bibasilar opacities
  • Partially imaged cervical spine fusion hardware and abdominal aortic stent

CT

Chest

  • Mild widespread bronchial wall thickening with multifocal bronchial plugging in the right middle and lower lobes
  • Elevation of the right hemidiaphragm with atelectasis in the right middle and lower lobes
  • Thin-walled right lower lobe pulmonary cyst
  • Thoracic aortic atherosclerosis without aneurysm
  • Heavy coronary artery calcification
  • Small hiatal hernia

Upper abdomen

  • Partially imaged cyst arising from the upper pole of the left kidney
  • Patchy areas of peripheral hypoattenuation in the spleen, which may relate to phase of contrast bolus timing

MSK

  • Nondisplaced right posterior tenth rib fracture with central lucency likely reflecting early osseous resorption
  • Partially imaged lower cervical spine fusion hardware
  • Multilevel degenerative changes of the thoracic spine with bridging anterior osteophytosis in the lower thoracic spine

Diagnosis

Rib fracture

Sample Report

Acute/subacute right posterior tenth rib fracture.

No pleural fluid collection or pneumothorax.

Elevation of the right hemidiaphragm with atelectasis in the right middle and lower lobes.

Bronchial wall thickening and multifocal bronchial plugging could relate to bronchitis or aspiration.
