Demographics: 32 years old, Male
Indication: Fever, cough

Findings

Chest radiograph

  • Rounded right middle lobe opacity with an air-fluid level
  • Remote ununited left and healed right clavicle fractures

CT

Chest

  • 4.7 x 3 x 3 cm fluid and gas containing intraparenchymal collection in the inferomedial aspect of the right middle lobe with adjacent groundglass opacities and interlobular septal thickening
  • Multiple mildly enlarged right hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes, likely reactive
  • Residual thymic tissue in the anterior mediastinum

Upper abdomen

  • No acute findings

MSK

  • No acute findings
  • Remote healed right midclavicular fracture
  • Remote left midclavicular fracture with hypertrophic nonunion

Diagnosis

Pulmonary abscess

Sample Report

Pulmonary abscess in the right middle lobe measuring up to 4.7 cm. Recommend followup CT imaging after treatment to ensure resolution.
