Case #2

Findings

Diagnosis

Greenstick fractures

Sample Report

Acute greenstick fractures of the mid radial and ulnar diaphyses with apex volar angulation.

Alignment appears maintained at the elbow and wrist, though dedicated elbow and wrist views could further assess.

Discussion

  • Greenstick fractures occur in young children and are often diaphyseal
  • The fracture occurs along the tensile side but does not extend to the compressive side of the bone
  • While these are often managed conservatively, fractures with too much angulation (e.g. > 20 degrees) may require surgical management
