Findings

  • No radiopaque foreign body
  • Marked distension of the stomach with air-fluid level on upright projection
  • Otherwise nonobstructive bowel gas pattern with a large rectal stool burden
  • No evidence of free intraperitoneal air
  • No abnormal intraabdominal mass effect or calcification

Diagnosis

Ingested radiolucent foreign body

Sample Report

No radiopaque foreign body. However, marked distension of the stomach with air-fluid level on upright projection raises concern for an obstructing radiolucent foreign body (such as a Lego piece).

Otherwise nonobstructive bowel gas pattern with a large rectal stool burden.

No evidence of free intraperitoneal air.

No abnormal intraabdominal mass effect or calcification.
