Findings
- Mildly T2 hypointense, homogeneously enhancing intradural extramedullary mass eccentric to the left at C5-C6 measuring 1.5 x 2 x 3.5 cm with slight extension into the left C5-C6 neural foramen
- Thin enhancing ventral dural tail extending inferiorly to the level of the C7 vertebral body
- Associated severe spinal canal stenosis at this level with rightward displacement and deforming of the cord and T2/STIR hyperintense signal in the cord
- Smooth posterior scalloping of the C5 and C6 vertebral bodies
- Normal marrow signal
- Normal alignment
Diagnosis
Spinal meningioma
Sample Report
Mildly T2 hypointense, homogeneously enhancing intradural extramedullary mass eccentric to the left at C5-C6 measuring 1.5 x 2 x 3.5 cm with slight extension into the left C5-C6 neural foramen and a thin enhancing ventral dural tail extending inferiorly to the level of the C7 vertebral body. This appearance is most consistent with a meningioma, though nerve sheath tumor is an additional consideration.
Associated severe spinal canal stenosis at C5-C6 with rightward displacement and deforming of the cord and T2/STIR hyperintense signal in the cord likely representing edema.
Smooth posterior scalloping of the C5 and C6 vertebral bodies, likely representing chronic remodeling related to the tumor.
