Findings
- Bilateral T2 hyperintense cerebral convexity subdural collections measuring up to 7 mm in thickness on the right and 6 mm in thickness on the left with T2 hypointense components layering dependently. Smaller T2 hyperintense components tracking along the interhemispheric falx and along the bilateral cerebellar tentorium posteriorly
- Areas of discontinuous, curvilinear extra-axial susceptibility artifact along the vertex
- Small area of susceptibility artifact in the left cerebellar hemisphere
- Likely trace hemosiderin staining along the high right central sulcus
- Mild mucosal thickening of the paranasal sinuses
Diagnosis
Non-accidental trauma
Sample Report
Bilateral cerebral convexity subdural hematomas containing blood products of varying ages, measuring up to 7 mm in thickness on the right and 6 mm in thickness on the left. No significant associated mass effect.
Findings suspicious for areas of traumatic bridging vein thrombosis at the vertex.
Evidence of prior small volume subarachnoid hemorrhage in the right central sulcus and parenchymal hematoma in the left cerebellar hemisphere.
These findings raise concern for nonaccidental trauma.
