Findings
- Acute comminuted fracture of the L1 vertebral body involving the superior and inferior endplates with retropulsion of osseous fragments into the spinal canal resulting in moderate canal narrowing, effacement of the subarticular zones, and mild bilateral L1-L2 neural foraminal stenosis
- Acute sagittally-oriented fracture at junction of right L1 lamina and spinous process
- Unilateral right L5 pars defect without spondylolisthesis
- Mild multilevel degenerative disc disease. Moderate degenerative facet arthrosis in the lower lumbar spine
- Dependent groundglass opacities in the lungs, which may relate to atelectasis and/or aspiration
- Atherosclerotic calcification of the abdominal aorta and branch vessels
Diagnosis
Burst fracture
Sample Report
Acute comminuted L1 burst fracture with retropulsion of osseous fragments into the spinal canal resulting in moderate canal narrowing, effacement of the subarticular zones, and mild bilateral L1-L2 neural foraminal stenosis. Additional acute sagittally-oriented fracture at junction of right L1 lamina and spinous process. Consider MRI to further assess soft tissue injuries and degree of spinal canal compromise.
