Diagnosis
Herpes encephalitis
Sample Report
Area of hypoattenuation with loss of gray-white differentiation in the right temporal lobe which could relate to infarct, underlying mass lesion, recent seizure, or infection. The location and patient presentation with altered mental status raise the possibility of herpes encephalitis. Recommend brain MRI with and without contrast for further evaluation.
Associated medial deviation of the right temporal uncus without frank herniation or hydrocephalus.
No acute hemorrhage.
