Findings
- Enlargement of both palatine tonsils with a peripherally enhancing fluid collection centered in and adjacent to the right palatine tonsil which exerts mass effect on the oropharyngeal airway, which remains patent
- Reactive cervical lymphadenopathy
- Retropharyngeal course of the proximal internal carotid arteries
Diagnosis
Tonsillitis with peritonsillar abscess
Sample Report
Enlargement of both palatine tonsils consistent with tonsillitis. Right peritonsillar abscess measuring 2.3 x 1.5 x 2.8 cm which exerts mass effect on the oropharynx, which remains patent. No retropharyngeal abscess. No suppurative lymphadenopathy. No venous thrombosis in the neck.
Retropharyngeal course of the proximal internal carotid arteries.
Paranasal sinuses are clear.
