Demographics: 68 years old, Male
Indication: Right facial swelling

Findings

  • Multiple dental caries and periapical lucencies
  • Focal cortical dehiscence adjacent to periapical lucency associated with the lateral right maxillary incisor with an overlying small peripherally-enhancing collection along the right maxillary alveolar ridge measuring 7 x 2 mm
  • Overlying fat stranding
  • Multiple mildly enlarged right cervical lymph nodes
  • Small calcification at the left tongue base, likely a tonsillolith
  • Mild polypoid thickening of the paranasal sinuses
  • Cervical and intracranial atherosclerosis

Diagnosis

Odontogenic subperiosteal abscess

Sample Report

Small subperiosteal abscess associated with the right lateral maxillary incisor with overlying subcutaneous fat stranding concerning for cellulitis.

Multiple enlarged right cervical lymph nodes without suppurative changes.
