Findings
- Acute comminuted fibular head and Segond fractures with 2.5 cm superior displacement relative to the proximal fibula
- Widening of the lateral compartment
- Extensive subcutaneous gas
Diagnosis
Fibular head and Segond avulsion fractures
Sample Report
Open acute comminuted fibular head and Segond fractures with 2.5 cm superior displacement relative to the proximal fibula. This fracture pattern in addition to lateral compartment widening raise concern for associated ligament injury, particularly involving the ACL and LCL, which can be further evaluated with MRI.
Otherwise, no joint malalignment.
No joint effusion.
Joint spaces are maintained.
