Demographics: 43 years old, Male
Indication: Ankle injury

Findings

  • Acute comminuted fracture of the distal fibular diaphysis with 5 mm posterolateral displacement of the dominant distal fracture fragment and slight apex lateral angulation
  • Acute nondisplaced fracture of the posterior malleolus
  • Widening of the medial clear space
  • Ankle joint effusion
  • Soft tissue swelling about the ankle

Diagnosis

Weber type C ankle fracture

Sample Report

Acute comminuted fracture of the distal fibular diaphysis (Weber C) with 5 mm posterolateral displacement of the dominant distal fracture fragment and slight apex lateral angulation.

Widening of the medial clear space raises concern for associated deltoid ligament injury.

Acute nondisplaced fracture of the posterior malleolus.

Ankle joint effusion.

Soft tissue swelling about the ankle.
