Demographics: 81 years old, Male
Indication: Trauma

Findings

  • Acute mildly displaced medial malleolar fracture with extension into the posterior malleolus
  • Acute minimally distracted avulsion fracture of the lateral tibial plafond
  • Partially imaged comminuted fracture of the mid fibular diaphysis
  • Mild degenerative changes of the tibiotalar and posterior subtalar joints as well as throughout the midfoot
  • Prior amputation of the fifth digit
  • Osteopenia
  • Vascular calcifications

Diagnosis

Anterior-inferior tibiofibular ligament (AITFL) avulsion fracture (aka Chaput tubercle fracture)

Sample Report

Acute mildly displaced medial malleolar fracture with extension into the posterior malleolus.

Acute minimally distracted anterior-inferior tibiofibular ligament (AITFL) avulsion fracture from the lateral tibial plafond.

Ankle mortise appears congruent.

Partially imaged comminuted fracture of the mid fibular diaphysis.

Mild degenerative changes of the tibiotalar and posterior subtalar joints as well as throughout the midfoot.

Osteopenia.

Vascular calcifications.
