Demographics: 50 years old, Male
Indication: Fever, concern for pneumonia

Findings

  • Patchy bilateral pulmonary opacities, many of which are located peripherally and have a nodular configuration
  • Mild diffuse interstitial thickening
  • Moderate-sized right and trace left pleural effusions
  • Tunneled right IJ approach central venous catheter and left IJ approach dialysis catheter with tips overlying the right atrium

Diagnosis

Septic embolic disease

Sample Report

Findings are concerning for multifocal pneumonia, with differential diagnosis including atypical pathogens and septic embolic disease given peripheral nodular opacification.

Mild interstitial pulmonary edema with moderate-sized right and trace left pleural effusions.
