Findings
- Large left pleural effusion resulting in near complete opacification of the left hemithorax and mild rightward mediastinal shift
- A large component of the effusion does not dependently layer on right-side-down decubitus view
- Multiple nodular opacities throughout the right lung
- Left aspect of the cardiopericardial silhouette is obscured
Diagnosis
Loculated pleural effusion
Sample Report
Large left pleural effusion which contains a large loculated component as evidenced by lack of dependent layering on the decubitus view. Associated mild rightward mediastinal shift.
Multiple nodular opacities throughout the right lung, for which nonemergent chest CT is recommended.
