Findings

Lower chest

  • No acute findings

Abdomen/Pelvis

  • Pancolonic distension, mural thickening, and adjacent mesenteric fat stranding with mildly enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes
  • Transverse colon demonstrates mucosal irregularity and loss of the normal haustral folds
  • Small volume free intraperitoneal fluid

MSK

  • No acute findings

Diagnosis

Toxic megacolon

Sample Report

Pancolitis with dilation and mucosal irregularity of the transverse colon raising concern for toxic megacolon. No evidence of perforation or pneumatosis.
