Indication: Right lower quadrant pain

Findings

Lower chest

  • No acute findings
  • Small hiatal hernia

Abdomen/Pelvis

  • Dilated cecum which is displaced into the mid abdomen with possible associated swirling of the ileocecal mesentery
  • No pneumatosis, portal venous gas, or pneumoperitoneum
  • Moderate colonic stool burden
  • Normal appendix

MSK

  • No acute findings

Diagnosis

Cecal volvulus

Sample Report

Dilated, displaced cecum with possible associated mesenteric swirling, which could represent cecal volvulus versus cecal bascule. No evidence of ischemia at this time. Recommend surgical evaluation.
