Demographics: 14 years old, Male
Indication: Shin pain after football injury

Findings

  • Acute mildly displaced, comminuted, obliquely oriented pathologic fracture of the distal tibial metadiaphysis
  • This fracture extends through a circumscribed solitary lucent lesion in the distal tibial diaphysis measuring 4 x 2 x 2 cm, which has a thin sclerotic rim, narrow zone of transition, and no associated periosteal reaction

Diagnosis

Nonossifying fibroma with pathologic fracture

Sample Report

Acute mildly displaced, comminuted, obliquely oriented pathologic fracture of the distal tibial metadiaphysis. No extension into the physis or joint.

This fracture extends through a circumscribed solitary lucent lesion in the distal tibial diaphysis measuring 4 x 2 x 2 cm, which has a thin sclerotic rim, narrow zone of transition, and no associated periosteal reaction, favored to represent a nonossifying fibroma.

No joint malalignment.
