Indication: Shoulder injury

Findings

  • Acute minimally displaced fracture through the proximal humeral diaphysis
  • The fracture extends through a large expansile lucent lesion which thins the overlying cortex without cortical disruption or periosteal reaction

Diagnosis

Aneurysmal bone cyst with pathological fracture

Sample Report

Acute minimally displaced pathological fracture through a large lucent lesion in the proximal humeral diaphysis. This lesion results in marrow space expansion and overlying cortex thinning without cortical disruption or periosteal reaction and is favored to represent a unicameral bone cyst or aneurysmal bone cyst. MRI could provide further characterization, if clinically indicated.

No joint malalignment.
