Findings

  • Mild patchy right basilar opacities
  • Small right pleural effusion
  • No pneumothorax
  • Normal size and configuration of the cardiothymic silhouette

Diagnosis

Neonatal pneumonia

Sample Report

Mild patchy right basilar opacities and small right pleural effusion raise concern for pneumonia versus transient tachypnea of the newborn in the setting of recent cesarean delivery. Recommend repeat chest radiograph in 24 hours to assess for resolution.
