Demographics: 46 years old, Male
Indication: Low back pain with right-sided sciatica

Findings

  • Mild multilevel degenerative changes of the lumbar spine without substantial canal stenosis
  • Mild bilateral foraminal stenosis at L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1
  • Central T2 hyperintense structure in the spinal cord extending from the level of T11-T12 through the conus measuring up to 2 mm in transverse diameter without surrounding cord signal abnormality or significant expansion of the cord or conus
  • Conus terminates in normal position at the level of L2

Diagnosis

Terminal ventricle

Sample Report

A central T2 hyperintense structure in the spinal cord extending from the level of T11-T12 through the conus measuring up to 2 mm in transverse diameter without surrounding cord signal abnormality or significant expansion of the cord or conus is favored to represent a terminal ventricle rather than a small syrinx.
