Demographics: 14 years old, Male
Indication: New-onset ataxia

Findings

  • Multiple T2/STIR hyperintense lesions in the cervical spinal cord, particularly involving white matter tracts, many of which have associated enhancement
  • Normal cord size and contour
  • No significant focal degenerative changes
  • Normal marrow signal
  • Normal alignment

Diagnosis

Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)

Sample Report

Multiple enhancing T2/STIR hyperintense lesions in the cervical spinal cord, which appearance is most concerning for a demyelinating process such as multiple sclerosis or ADEM. Recommend correlation with CSF analysis.
