Findings
- No evidence of acute infarct, hemorrhage, mass effect, or hydrocephalus
- Numerous areas of parenchymal susceptibility artifact involving the bilateral cerebral hemispheres with relative sparing of the basal ganglia, thalami, and brainstem
- Multiple areas of susceptibility artifact coating the surface of the cerebrum and cerebellum
- Few scattered T2/FLAIR hyperintense white matter lesions
Diagnosis
Amyloid angiopathy with superficial siderosis
Sample Report
No evidence of acute infarct, hemorrhage, mass effect, or hydrocephalus.
Evidence of numerous remote parenchymal hematomas involving the bilateral cerebral hemispheres with relative sparing of the basal ganglia, thalami, and brainstem. This appearance is most suggestive of cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
Areas of superficial siderosis, which can be a cause for sensorineural hearing loss.
