Findings
- Infiltrative, mildly expansile area of T2/FLAIR hyperintensity involving the left insula, anterior left temporal pole, and inferior left orbitofrontal cortex extending medially with involvement of the posterior aspect of the left gyrus rectus
- No associated restricted diffusion, susceptibility artifact, or enhancement
- Incidental dilated perivascular spaces in the left eccentric midbrain
Diagnosis
Low grade glioma
Sample Report
Infiltrative, mildly expansile area of T2/FLAIR hyperintensity involving the left insula, anterior left temporal pole, and inferior left orbitofrontal cortex without associated enhancement. This appearance likely represents a low grade glioma, though encephalitis (particularly herpes encephalitis) could have a similar appearance in the correct clinical setting.
