Demographics: 34 years old, Male
Indication: Headache

Findings

  • Infiltrative, mildly expansile area of T2/FLAIR hyperintensity involving the left insula, anterior left temporal pole, and inferior left orbitofrontal cortex extending medially with involvement of the posterior aspect of the left gyrus rectus
  • No associated restricted diffusion, susceptibility artifact, or enhancement
  • Incidental dilated perivascular spaces in the left eccentric midbrain

Diagnosis

Low grade glioma

Sample Report

Infiltrative, mildly expansile area of T2/FLAIR hyperintensity involving the left insula, anterior left temporal pole, and inferior left orbitofrontal cortex without associated enhancement. This appearance likely represents a low grade glioma, though encephalitis (particularly herpes encephalitis) could have a similar appearance in the correct clinical setting.
