Findings
- Mild diffuse loss of gray-white differentiation, most pronounced in the deep gray nuclei
- Retained intravascular contrast material (from a recent previous contrast-enhanced CT)
Diagnosis
Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy
Sample Report
Mild diffuse loss of gray-white differentiation, most pronounced in the deep gray nuclei, which raises concern for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Consider brain MRI for further evaluation.
No acute hemorrhage, mass effect, hydrocephalus, or evidence of herniation.
