Findings

  • Mild diffuse loss of gray-white differentiation, most pronounced in the deep gray nuclei
  • Retained intravascular contrast material (from a recent previous contrast-enhanced CT)

Diagnosis

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy

Sample Report

Mild diffuse loss of gray-white differentiation, most pronounced in the deep gray nuclei, which raises concern for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Consider brain MRI for further evaluation.

No acute hemorrhage, mass effect, hydrocephalus, or evidence of herniation.
