Findings
- Low attenuation material expanding the retropharyngeal space extending from the level of C1 to C4-C5 measuring 2 x 0.5 x 4 cm without discrete peripherally enhancing collection
- Fat stranding in the right masticator and parapharyngeal spaces
- Extensive left greater than right cervical lymphadenopathy without suppurative changes
- Enlarged adenoids
Diagnosis
Retropharyngeal edema
Sample Report
Low attenuation material in the retropharyngeal space extending from the levels of C1 through C4-C5 measuring 2 x 0.5 x 4 cm without discrete peripheral enhancement, which is concerning for edema versus developing abscess. No substantial mass effect on the airway.
Right greater than left nonsuppurative cervical lymphadenopathy.
Enlarged adenoids without associated abscess.
