Demographics: 1 years old, Male
Indication: Neck swelling, fever

Findings

  • Peripherally enhancing collection in the upper right posterior cervical region deep to the right sternocleidomastoid muscle
  • Overlying thickening of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, subcutaneous fat stranding, and skin thickening
  • No venous thrombosis

Diagnosis

Suppurative lymphadenitis

Sample Report

Peripherally enhancing fluid collection measuring 3 x 2.5 x 3.5 cm in the right upper posterior cervical region just deep to the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which likely represents suppurative lymphadenitis (intranodal abscess).

Overlying cellulitis and myositis without airway compromise, retropharyngeal edema, or venous thrombosis.
