Indication: Feeding tube placement

Findings

  • Feeding tube loops on itself overlying the lateral right costophrenic sulcus and ascends along the medial right hemithorax with tip not visualized
  • Patchy right basilar pulmonary opacities
  • Nonobstructive bowel gas pattern

Diagnosis

Malpositioned feeding tube

Sample Report

Feeding tube is malpositioned in the right bronchial tree and likely has perforated into the pleural space where is loops on itself overlying the lateral right costophrenic sulcus. Recommend surgical consultation prior to removal.

Patchy right basilar pulmonary opacities, which may relate to aspiration, pneumonia, and/or pulmonary contusion related to tube placement.

Nonobstructive bowel gas pattern.
