Findings

  • Hazy opacification throughout the left hemithorax with mild volume loss and anterior displacement of the major fissure on the lateral view
  • Right lung is clear
  • No pleural effusion or pneumothorax
  • Normal size and configuration of the cardiopericardial silhouette

Diagnosis

Left upper lobe collapse

Sample Report

Left upper lobe collapse. While this could relate to mucous plugging, an obstructing endobronchial or hilar mass is not excluded. Recommend short interval followup radiographs, and if this finding does not resolve, chest CT should be obtained for further assessment.
